On September 27th, 2026 we will organize the 4th TCIS School Chess Championship – a big inter-school competition which will be hosted by the Thai-Chinese International School. We are happy to invite all junior players born 2008 or younger to join this event. We will have U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U18 age groups. We will award the top 3 players in each age group with trophies and the 4th and 5th place players with medals. The 3 best school teams will receive trophies too.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
1. INVITATION
1.1 Red Knight Chess Club has the pleasure to invite you to the 3rd TCIS School Chess Championship that will take place on September 27th, 2026 at the Thai-Chinese International School in Bangkok, located at: 101/177 Moo 7 Soi Mooban Bangpleenives, Prasertsin Road, Bangplee Yai, Samut Prakan 10540.
1.2 The tournament is open to all players who are born in 2008 or later. We will accept maximum 200 players.
1.3 The players can join in one of the following age groups:
Under 06 boys and girls born 2020 or later
Under 08 boys and girls born 2018/2019
Under 10 boys and girls born 2016/2017
Under 12 boys and girls born 2014/2015
Under 14 boys and girls born 2012/2013
Under 18 boys and girls born 2008/2009/2010/2011
1.4 IMPORTANT: Players can play in higher age group if they choose to. For example, a player born in 2013, who should be playing in U12 age group, can choose to play in U14 or U18 age groups instead.
2. AWARDS
2.1 Individual awards
- In each age group, we will award trophies to the Winner, the 1st and the 2nd Runners-up.
- In each age group, we will award medals to the 3rd and 4th Runners-up.
- Digital certificates for participation will be sent to all the players who will attend the tournament.
2.2 Team awards
- We will award team trophies to the: BEST SCHOOL TEAM, 1st and 2nd Runners-up School Teams. The results will be calculated based on the top 5 performing players of each school team.
2.3 IMPORTANT: This is primarily an individual competition. The players are being registered by their parents, not by their schools. All schools that will have minimum 5 participants will have a school team, and all the players from those schools will be a part of their respective school teams by default.
3. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE AND DEADLINES

3.2 Registration fees are as follows:
- Early Bird - 1100 baht, paid by September 06.
- Late Registration - 1300 baht, paid between September 07 and 21.
- Last Call Registration - 1500 baht, paid between September 22 and September 25.
3.3 IMPORTANT: We will close the registrations on September 25th at 13:00h, and we will not accept anymore players after that. We will close the registrations even earlier in case of reaching the maximum number of 200 players.
4. LUNCH
4.1 The registration fee does not include lunch. The host will provide lunch boxes for purchase from the school canteen or from outside vendors.
5. PERMISSIONS
5.1 By registering for the tournament, you give consent that you might appear on a promotional photo or video materials that will be published on TCIS and RKCC websites and/or social media pages. Where this applies to a minor, the parents give consent by submitting the registration form.
6. PAYMENT, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICY
6.1 In order to submit the registration, you will need to upload the proof of payment (a screenshot, a photo or a pdf file, not exceeding 1 megabyte) in the Registration Form. You will not be able to complete the Registration Form without uploading the proof of payment.

8. TIME CONTROL, PAIRINGS AND TIE BREAKS
8.1 The time control for the Primary division (U6, U8, U10 and U12 age groups) will be 15 minutes per player, with no time increment. 6 rounds will be played by SWISS Pairing System.
8.2 The time control for the Secondary division (U14 and U18 age groups) will be 15 minutes per player with an increment of 5 seconds per move. 6 rounds will be played by SWISS Pairing System.
8.3 Depending on the size of the age groups, the organizer might make some changes, which will be printed and published at the playing venue.
9. DATE OF BIRTH
9.1 Parents do not need to send us a proof of birth of their children. However, parents should present a proof of the date of birth of their child, if the arbiters request it. Please make sure that you write the correct year of birth in the Registration Form. Only the year of birth is relevant for the age categories, not the date of birth.
10. DRESS CODE
10.1 With exception of those students who study in schools in which there are no school uniforms, the students are requested to appear in their school uniform, or
10.2 Students can also play in their school team Chess T-Shirt, if they are studying in a school that has a chess team.

Additional regulations for the FIDE Rated Category:
FIDE RATED CATEGORY - REGULATIONS
1. The General Regulations above also apply to the players who will join the FIDE Rated Category.
2. To join the FIDE Rated Category, the player:
- Must be born 2008 or later. Older player cannot join this competition
- Must have a FIDE Id Number
*If you don't have a FIDE Id number, please contact us and we will try to assist you with the process of obtaining one.
3. The FIDE Laws of Chess will be applied strictly in this category. The players joining this category are expected to be familiar with the FIDE Laws of Chess.
4. The Chief Arbiter will inform the players about the most important rules in the technical meeting before the first round.
The organizer may approve requests of parents for video recording of their children’s games for educational purposes. Here are the regulations for video recording of the games:
VIDEO RECORDING OF TOURNAMENT GAMES - REGULATIONS
1. The phone/camera that will record the game must be set up on a stable tripod on the floor. We will not allow tripods and cameras attached on the playing tables.
2. The phone/camera must be set up in airplane mode. Live streaming will not be allowed.
3. The phone/camera must be set up from a top view, in a way that it will not record the face of the opponent or the players on the nearby tables. The video recording must be focused on the chessboard only. The arbiters will check this before the start of the game.
4. The player who does the recording is responsible for handling the equipment. If the phone/camera makes sounds during the recording, the arbiter has the right to declare the game won for the opponent.
5. The video recording cannot be used to claim illegal moves or other irregularities under any circumstances. The responsibility for making claims is on the players and only during the game according to the Laws of Chess.
6. The organizer will not take any responsibility if the equipment is damaged during the filming for any reasons.
7. The Chief Arbiter may or may not allow recording of videos during the tournaments, including revoking the decision to allow recordings. The conditions of the playing venue, the playing equipment, available space, and other factors may contribute to the decision.
8. The decision of the Chief Arbiter is final.
