TCIS Chess Tournament

  • Today we organized our first big inter-school competition this year, the TCIS Chess Tournament at the Thai-Chinese International School. We would like to thank Dr. Michael Purser, the Head of School at TCIS, and all their staff who helped us to organize this event. Big thanks to 135 players from 38 different schools in Thailand who came to compete today, and congratulations to all the winners!

We awarded trophies to the best individual players and the best performing schools. In the U18 and U14 groups there was a very close battle for the trophies. Eventually, the tie-breaks were kind to Maksim Smirnov from Harrow International School in the U18 age group, and Aarav Gupta from Shrewsbury International School in the U14, who won the winner’s trophies.

Kris Klaothotsaporn from Thai-Singapore International School won the U12, while Gavin Siridanupath from St.Andrews International School won the U10 age group. Both of them escape their competitors by half point.

The remaining 2 groups were won by King’s College students. Chin Liukasemsarn won the U8, while Almond Ruengjirachuporn won the U6 age group, both of them with perfect 6/6 scores.

In the team competition, the trophy went to the young but very talented team from King’s College International School, followed by Bangkok Patana School and Shrewsbury International School, who won the 1st and 2nd Runner-up trophies.

The trophy for the biggest team in the tournament went to Charter International School and their coach David who organized 17 very motivated students.
