Simul with Grandmaster Romanov

During the Songkran holidays we had a wonderful opportunity to be visited by the very strong Chess Grandmaster Evgeny Romanov, who was very kind to make time to play a Simultaneous Exhibition game with our members, and even to give us a lecture at the Chess Cafe!

Evgeny came to Thailand to play one of the best, if not the best tournament in South-East Asia, the BCC Chess Open. In the end, he won the tournament ahead of world famous Grandmasters such as Nigel Short and Ian Gustafsson. Before and after the tournament, Evgeny, who is a former junior world and European chess champion, gave us some of his valuable time and expertise, which we truly appreciate. He played his simul games with utmost professionalism, and in the end he won all of his 32 opponents!

After the simul games, our players received Evgeny’s autographs and an opportunity to take photos with him, to ask questions and to hear valuable advice.

After his victory in the BCC Open, Evgeny visited us once more and gave us a lecture, bringing us closer to the thinking process that takes place in the mind of a chess Grandmaster. A truly wonderful experience for our players and for us as a chess club!

Thank you for everything Grandmaster Evgeny. RKCC wishes you a great success in your chess career!
