Monthly Tournaments at Red Knight

  • Finally the pandemic gave us a break and in January we started our Monthly Tournament Cycle. Each month we organize three tournaments:

    1. Age Group Tournament for children born 2012-2016
    2. FIDE Rated Rapid & Blitz Tournament
    3. Age Group Tournament for children born 2008-2011

The tournaments are open to everyone, meaning that one does not need to be a member of our club in order to join the events. We organize them on Sundays, and the schedule is always published on our Facebook page.

The Age Group tournaments are always full of happy, smiling faces, and it gives us a great joy organizing them. They are suitable for children who started to play recently. For many of them, Red Knight tournament was the first tournament that they ever played. While the more stronger children are fighting for the trophies, the others are gaining a valuable experience and often snatch some awards.

The FIDE Rated tournaments are something that competitive junior players in Bangkok really needed. With that in mind, we established tournaments on which the juniors will play with adult and more experienced opponents, including players with FIDE titles. The idea was a resounding success. Each month there is a high demand for the tournament. Often, players are not able to join due to the limited numbers. Many juniors won their first ratings on these tournaments, and some managed to win or draw against FIDE Masters. This is the way to grow and build confidence.

We do not want to flood our website with reports for each tournament. You can find that information by scrolling our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RedKnightChess

For those readers who are not familiar:

FIDE – stands for World Chess Federation (In French: Fédération Internationale des Échecs).
FIDE ratings – each player has a rating, which indicates the player’s current strength.
