Great Success On The Junior Championship

The Thailand Junior Championship is over and we are back with four champions, and total of ten trophies and one medal! We feel happy and proud of these achievements, and we want to congratulate all of our players on their performances!

All The trophy winners, except Rafael who left early.

The tournament went great for some of our more experienced players. In the U14 age category, Dhi won yet another champion title convincingly, scoring 8.5 points out of 9 rounds. He made it look easy, even though he had good competitors. Congratulations Dhi!

In U12 age category for girls, Nina also won her second Thailand Champion title. She played in a mixed group for girls of ages under 10, 12 and 14, and she won decisively with 8 points out of 9 rounds. Well done Nina!

In U12 age category, Pac become a Thailand Champion for the second time! He played in a group that was very even by quality, and he showed maturity and determination which made the difference. Great job, Pac!

Now, how about becoming a champion on your first standard tournament ever?! In the U6 age group, our youngest player Haru started his chess journey with a bang! It’s great when you are only looking for experience, but you go home with a trophy, isn’t it?

And Haru was not the only one who just started and won a trophy. In the U8 age category for girls, Ava and Proud grabbed the 2nd and 3rd place trophies in their first competition ever! Amazing job girls! Keep it up!

Very close to winning another title was Kate in the U10 age category for girls. Unfortunately, she slipped in one of the games and the results in the last round did not go in her favor. Still, congrats on the second place Kate, you will bounce back quickly!

Rafael started badly in the U12 age group but he had a great finish which earned him third place. In a similar fashion, Fren won the last and decisive game in U16 girls to snatch third place. Congratulations to both!

Another third place trophy will go home with Chun in the U14 category for girls. It is well deserved, and had she not missed winning two very close games, she would have won even more. Nevertheless, it is a great accomplishment. Congratulations Chun!

Back in the U14 category, Tada won some nice games but not enough for the result that he was hoping for.

Congratulations also to the rest of our players: Pine, Jon and Anda, who did very well in their first competition ever in U14, U12 and U10 age groups. Anda won a medal, and Jon became a FIDE rated player. Pine gained a valuable experience in a very strong U14 group. Seeing his passion for chess and determination to improve, it is only a matter of time before he catches up with the more experienced players.
