We are delighted to invite your school’s chess team to take part in the 2nd Bangkok Schools Team Chess Championship. The competition will take place on January 18th at Bambini Villa, located on Sukhumvit 26 (Soi Attha Kravi 1) in Bangkok.
If your school is located in Bangkok and the surrounding area, you are eligible to send your teams to this tournament. We will have U12 category, in which each team will consist of 4 players, and U18 category, in which each team will consist of 3 players. Each school can register one or more teams, but have in mind that we can accept maximum 30 teams, and we will close the registrations when we reach this number.
Each team must consist of students who at the time of the tournament, are enrolled in the school that they represent.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
1. INVITATION
1.1 Red Knight Chess Club has the honor to invite you to the 2nd BANGKOK SCHOOLS TEAM CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP that will take place on January 18th at Bambini Villa, located on Sukhumvit 26 in Bangkok.
1.2 The tournament is invitational. We invite chess teams from schools located in Bangkok and the surrounding area. We will accept maximum 30 teams.
1.3 The teams can register in the following categories:
Under 12 teams of players born 2014 or later
Under 18 teams of players born 2008 or later
Note: Players born 2014 or later can choose to join U18 teams, if they wish to do so.
2. TEAMS COMPOSITION
2.1 In the U12 category, each team will consist of 4 players.
2.2 In the U18 category, each team will consist of 3 players.
2.3 All players in the team must be enrolled at the school that they represent, at the time of the tournament.

4. TIME CONTROL, PAIRINGS AND TIE BREAKS
4.1 The time control will be 15 minutes per player, with 5 seconds increment for each move.
4.2 6 rounds will be played by SWISS Pairing System. In an unlikely case of small number of teams, the organizer reserves the right to make changes in the number of rounds and the pairing system.
4.3 In case of a tie, the following tie-breaks will apply:
- Match points (2 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss)
- Game points
- Direct encounter (The results of the teams in the same point group, according to match point)
- Buchholz
- Sonneborn-berger
5. AWARDS
5.1 In each category (U12, U18) we will award the best 3 teams with trophies.
5.2 In each category (U12, U18) we will award medals to:
- Best 3 players on board 1
- Best 3 players on board 2
- Best 3 players on board 3
- Best 3 players on board 4* (U12 only, as U18 teams have 3 boards only)
6. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

7. DRESS CODE
7.1 The players will appear in:
- Their school t-shirts
- T-shirts of similar color with the rest of their team (for schools that don’t have school uniforms)
8. PROOF OF AGE
8.1 We may require to see a proof of age on arrival. We will accept one of the following documents:
- School Id with a birth year on it.
- FIDE Id number (if the player has one)
- A screenshot of a National Id or Passport.

10. PERMISSIONS
10.1 By submitting the registration, you accept that the images of the
participants may appear in photos or videos on the organizer's website and/or social media pages and other promotional materials.

If you are an individual player who wants to join the tournament, but you cannot find enough chess friends in your school to make a team, please contact us and we will try to help you out.
