Good practice problems Feb 14, 2010 This has many features that I wanted for my middle school chess club. It has varying degrees of difficulty and the answers on the opposite page from the problems. This enables you to photocopy the problem page, without giving the answers away.
Some of the problems seem rather basic. Others give a challenge that encourages thought. I'm satisfied with this book and will recommend it to anyone who wants a similar application.
The one drawback, which the book wasn't designed to cover, was some of the strategy that is taking place. The sheer number of problems doesn't lend it to this, leaving the user to fill in the blanks, so it would be good for someone teaching a novice. It may not be as helpful to a novice learning on their own.

Kindle version updated Jan 28, 2010 I purchased this book for my kindle in June 2009. The Kindle Version now displays diagrams but if you purchased this book before November 24, 2009 and you have Kindle version 2.3 (check Kindle settings), then you will need to download the updated version of the book which is available for no additional charge. Contact Amazon Kindle support customer service.

Kindle version not usable Jan 10, 2010 Just to add my voice--the Kindle version of the book with the current Kindle software is unusable.

Kindle chess puzzle book - (With no puzzle diagrams!) Dec 19, 2009 This review is only for the Kindle version of this title:
I downloaded the preview of this book to see if I would like it. All the puzzles were in the rear of the book so I was not able to sample any of the diagrams/problems through the sample. I thought to myself, "Well, it should be fine!" and purchased the book for my Kindle 2. When I opened the book to go to the chess problem area I immediately noticed the diagrams were coming up as strange little icons and not pictures of a chessboard with pieces on them. Amazon(the fantastic company that they are)instantly refunded my purchase price.
This title is worthless on the kindle! - buy the paperback.
UPDATE:
I have Kindle version 2.3 installed and I just downloaded this book (for the second time) on Feb 2nd 2010. The diagrams are still tiny little postage stamps that don't let you enlarge them - I asked customer service if there was a "updated version" that you had to ask for after downloading and she didn't know what I was talking about. Talk about disappointing! (Twice bitten - Thrice Shy!) I asked her if there was a way that they could email me when the version was absolutely proven to be repaired and she said yes...

Kindle version is useless Dec 05, 2009 I just bought the kindle version of the book. To my utter disappointment, I realized that the Kindle version is completely unusable. The image of the chess puzzle appears as a tiny little square - so I effectively ended up buying a book that has lots of tiny little squares, one on each page.
Obviously no one has bothered to review if the "Kindle Version", to check if it is usable or not.
